Atlas which needs your support

Your spine performs six functions:

  • supports the head and stiffen the skeletal system;
  • maintains the body in an upright position;
  • protects the spinal cord, which connects the brain with other parts of the body;
  • serves as an attachment point for muscles and ribs;
  • absorbs bumps and shocks;
  • allows the body to perform a variety of movements.

And these functions are performed by 32-34 small bones — the vertebrae, which have facet joints located between them, similar in structure to knees or elbows. Five spinal regions form the S-shaped spinal column, which provides additional cushioning function.
The most mobile part of the spine is cervical region, consisting of seven vertebrae that are responsible for neck movement and head turning. The top two cervical vertebrae (being the most important functional “mount”) have a certain anatomy, which differs from others.
The first vertebra was named after the mythological titan, who carries on his shoulders the vault of heaven and protects all living. Vertebral Atlas supports the skull vault and protects the central part of our nervous system — the brain.
Although Atlas does not have its own vertebral body like the rest do, it incorporates the vertebral arteries, which provide blood supply for the brain stem, cerebellum and occipital lobes of the cerebral hemispheres. In case of slightest irregularities in the cervical region, herniations compressing the vertebral artery, painful vertebral artery spasms due to irritation of damaged cervical discs, the insufficient blood supply to the mentioned areas of the brain can develop. This will manifest in headaches, dizziness, eye floaters, shaky walk, and even speech impairments occasionally. This state is called vertebro or vertebrobasilar insufficiency.

Today, unfortunately, almost every office worker spending 5000–7000 hours per year statistically (1,414 days or 3.9 years through the whole life) gets such diagnosis. And this number is constantly growing, as statistics adds students and children to the total number of “working in front of the computer”.

Cervical spine region is subject to certain loads if the neck is bent forward at the following angles:

  • zero – 4.5-5.4 kg
  • 15 degrees – 12.25 kg
  • 30 degrees – 18.14 kg
  • 45 degrees – 22.22 kg
  • 60 degrees – 27.21 kg
  • 90 degrees – impossible to measure.

And when you sit in front of the computer screen, your neck will eventually bend up to 60-90 degrees. Now imagine what terrifying load endures the atlas as well as the entire spinal column!

You can help your atlas by the correct body posture, which can be shaped and supported by an ergonomic chair with individual adaptation mechanisms and adjustments of all systems. Not just an individual adjustable headrest or automatic tilt angle or height control, but an entire SYSTEM that is responsible for supporting all spinal regions and promoting blood circulation in limbs.
And such ergonomic system exists! It is incorporated into all KULIK SYSTEM armchairs for children and adults. Designed with the highest precision in accordance with modern biomechanical laws, this intelligent system improves the standards of living, returning the spine to its natural position, removing static loads and controlling the posture.

Our spine possesses significant strength and can be “silent” for a long time, while accumulating kilograms and angles of loads. But any spine specialist will tell you that simply waiting for the spine ringing its alarm of being overfatigued can be disastrous, as it will be a signal of the impending disease. Patented KULIK SYSTEM ergonomic system is specifically intended to prevent the pain and stop the development of any spine diseases.
